We screened a strong line up of award winning short films from the past year, such as,

BIRTHDAYS AND OTHER TRAUMAS directed by Katie Yu, 12 min., 2006 - On his 12TH birthday, the perpetually bewildered Oscar Pitt imagines Mother's homemade pinata is her Evil Twin which is alive and taunting him. But Evil Pinata Twin crosses the line when it ridicules Oscar's flatulent Father and it's now up to Oscar to defend the family honor, if not the family jewels. Oscar's at bat and his courage is put to the test as he finally faces his fears! Nominated for six 2007 Leo awards, including Best Direction in Short Drama (Kaite Yu).

GOING FOR IT directed by Mick Nick.

With truthful behind the scenes expose's, "Daingerfield" delivers a smart and hip look at the life of a full-time actor who has yet to reach the pinnacle of acting success. Nominated for two 2006 Leo awards, including Best Screen Writing in a Short Drama (Michael Daingerfield).

THE LEGEND OF JACQUES LE'NARDS directed by Luke Divers. In this Canadian Heritage Minute, we follow Jacques Le’nards, an 18th Century Whistler skier, in his attempts to find the elusive "Belage". Winner of the 2007 Whistler 72 Hour Film-Maker Showdown.

Brendan's First Show

April 25, 2007

This month welcomed new host Brendan Beiser; Ken Hegan, host 1997-2007, had left for Toronto. Also this month we were under technical direction of Tim Dickman as Michael Brooks was ironically enough also going to be in Toronto on work. The show went off without a flaw, except for the competition for eye-balls we had from the Canucks hockey game!

Hosted by Brendan Beiser

Produced By Paul Armstrong

Co-Produced By Aaron Houston

Technical Direction by Michael Brooks

Presented in Association with FTXWest
