CLIP from THE BAR directed by Mike Jackson, HD, 10 min. 2007 - ‘The Bar’ is a typical boy-meets-girl story involving chicken breasts, pool sharks, and a xylophone. Film noir meets Airplane! This Bar is the place where nobody knows your name. Best Comedy winner at the 2007 Sea to Sky Film Festival.

The Bar was selected among 96 script entries in the first annual Hot Shot Shorts Film Contest submitted at The Celluloid Social Club. Executive producers from the Contest on the film include Paul Armstrong, Aaron Houston & Ed Brando.

Anniversary Show

November 14, 2007

This month we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Celluloid Social Club which has been presenting short and feature independent films monthly since November 13, 1997. The Club was founded by Paul Armstrong, Jeanne Harco & Cathi Black.

We will be showing several films screened on opening night 1997 as well as favourites over the years plus new films. Special guest speakers Chris Jones & Genevieve Jolliffe (‘Guerrilla Film Makers Handbook’) and Andrew Zines (‘Documentary Film Makers Handbook’) from FTXWest will also be on hand for a meet and greet.

Music after the screening featuring DJ P with fresh live violin n’ vocals from Suzka.

THE SECOND COMING written & directed by Kellie Benz, 16 min., comedy, 1997 - A woman wakes up to discover that she's had a one night stand with Jesus Christ, the son of God. Premiered at the Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival.

THE OPERATION directed by Jacob Pander, written by Pander & Marne Lucas, starring Gina Velou & Otto Wrek. 13 min, 1995, infrared video - In a cold tile operating room, a surgeon clad in a protective Ty-Vek suit, goggles and tight rubber gloves demonstrates her skills before a group of observers.
