2nd ANNUAL HOT SHOT SHORTS FILM CONTEST WINNER
Vancouver, BC...The Hot Shot Shorts Film Contest, The Celluloid Social Club
& Paladin Show Services are proud to announce the winner of the 2nd Annual Hot Shot
Shorts Film Contest.
The purpose of the Contest is to provide the sponsorship support to an exceptional short film script that might
not otherwise have the opportunity to be made into a film. The Contest was founded by Ed Brando
(Paladin Show Services), Paul Armstrong (Celluloid Social Club)
, Aaron Houston (Celluloid Social Club) & Scott
Campbell (Maxell Canada).
After close to 80 script submissions over three Celluloid Social Clubs, and a cold reading through the
Cold Reading Series and a pitch by the 5 Finalists, the judges have decided The winner
in the 2nd Annual Hot Shot Shorts Film Contest:
» ‘Everything's Coming Up Rosie’ « by Jereme Watt
‘Everything's Coming Up Rosie' by Jereme Watt. Life for a kid with autism is vastly different than for the
average child. See the world through Rosie's eyes as she embarks on a journey to communicate her thoughts to her
caregivers. The film is to be directed by Jereme Watt and produced by Aisla Webster.
The runner up script is, ‘Big Head' by Kris Elgstrand (writer) & Dylan Akio Smith (director). Childhood
isn't easy and, in the case of a 10 year-old, it's made no easier by an unusually large head. Inspired by a fellow
student's success with rhinoplasty, Billy seeks the aid of a plastic surgeon to solve his problems, but learns
that he will have to take matters into his own hands. ‘Big Head' is a dark comedy about childhood, plastic
surgery and self-acceptance.

Selected from 96 enteries, the winner of the 1st Annual Contest last year wasThe Bar
written by Peter New, directed by Mike Jackson, produced by Dan
Schlanger & executive produced by Susin Nielsen & Gary Harvey
(Robson Arms). The film stars Peter Deluise (Stargate, 21 Jump Street)
& Simone Bailly (The ‘L’ Word). It has screened at the Montreal
World Film Festival, Los Angeles Shorts Fest, Edmonton International Film Festival, Whistler Film Festival, PuSh
Festival, Port Moody Canadian Film Festival, Les 14th Rendez-Vous du Cinema Quebecois et Francophone
and the Sea to Sky Film Festival (Best Comedy). Most recently, the film was nominated for
two LEO Awards and will screen at the upcoming Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival.
The CELLULOID SOCIAL CLUB is a monthly screening series featuring the best in independent provocative short and
