Contest Details

Submit a script up to 10 pages (can be shorter but no longer than 10 pages including credits). If you submitted last year you are allowed to submit the same script again. Initial judging to be based solely on the merits of the script and its film-ability at this stage - there is no need to ‘package' the film at the point.

Submissions to be made by hard copy at the Celluloid Social Club on the dates below. PDF or Word copy of script and synopsis to be emailed to hotshotcontest2010@gmail.com following hard copy submission. Entry fees payable by cheque (made out to Ameland Films Inc.) or cash.

Submission Dates (in person at the Celluloid Social Club) and Entry Fees:

Early Bird Deadline
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 - $40

Regular Deadline
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 - $45

Last Call Deadline
Wednesday, May, 2010 - $50

From the entries, 5 scripts will be selected to be read at a special Cold Reading Series in the summer. The writer will form a team of crew (key crew mandatory) and cast (optional as winner receives casting session) and then pitch to the panel of judges.

The winner will be announced shortly after with production to commence at a time convenient for all but with the stipulation that there will enough time to submit to the 2011 Toronto and Vancouver International Film Festivals (or other major film festivals if completed sooner).

The winning film will be provided with approximately $20,000 in services to shoot and post the film. Ideally the team will have access to their own editing system (eg Final Cut Pro). Entry fees go to operating of the Contest with remaining fees to the winning film to cover the majority of hard costs. Some hard costs will need to be incurred by winning team.

Marilyn Thomas is the Contest Producer and Anna Zaleska the Contest Coordinator. Judges TBA.

Details of the Contest to be posted at the Celluloid Social Club Homepage & at the Celluloid Social Club facebook group.
